The pre-season team photo shows the team wearing the 1888 badged 1972-73 shirt, with some 1971-72 shirts also being worn. The earliest photo seen to date is from the second game of the season (League Cup v Leyton Orient) and shows the team wearing a new style black collared, closed V-neck shirt with black cuffs and a wider stripe pattern. Although some previous shirts were manufactuerd by Umbro, for the first time their logo was displayed on the front of the shirt over the left breast.
